This will be my first gig at Louisa’s.
I have lunched there many times, the food was good.I hear the sound system is good
as it was designed by the guys from London Bridge Studios. That is the studio where ‘Songs from a Bookmark’ was recorded.Hopefully they will be there tweaking the system for us.
In the meantime I am preparing a range of music to sing,
mostly originals, but also some Jazz standards, one Randy Newman song, a Nirvana song.
If any of you haven’t yet heard Darrius WIllrich he is not only a pianist but a singer/recording artist.
I am adding a link to his music. https://www.reverbnation.com/darriuswillrich

Rochelle House is a Seattle based vocalist/ songwriter/ recording artist/ educator and social activist. After spending 20 years raising children exclusively, her debut disc Dreams of love, earned her a nomination for Earshot’s Golden Ear Awards. Her second c.d.Water earned her nominations for both Vocalist of the Year, and Recording of the Year. Rochelle’s cross-genre musical compositions and performances have led to the creation of New House Orchestra -‘An ensemble of emerging musical genius. Composed of individuals whose genius lie not only in their ability to express themselves in the genre in which they were trained, but in their unique ability and willingness to create music that lies outside of “genre” and inside the present moment, with a joyful and careful abandon.’
Rochelle also loves teaching singing. her bachelors in Music/Jazz and a masters degree in Whole Systems Design enhance her ability to conceive and design, with the understanding that there is possibility for learning even in the most difficult moments. She is the founder and director of Seattle Children’s PlayGarden’s Neighbor Children’s Choir.
Rochelle House drops a soulful infusion of skill, reverence and unique life experience into
the deep waters of jazz singing. ” John Gilbreath, Executive Director Earshot Jazz !
“It is with deep empathy and a singularly unique passion that Rochelle House displays her
vocal quality and original compositions. She has a way of grabbing you “the audience/
listener” and pulling you into the moment of that exact moment, HER moment in whatever tune she is singing. Even with her cover of instrumental tunes, one get’s the sense that she is feeling the music’s message all the way to her core.”- Dawn Clement
“Most Importantly singing lessons with Rochelle are fun. Through my lessons with
Rochelle, I developed confidence in my singing voice, increased my range, played with
music that I chose and loved and connected with the music. Rochelle is one of those
teachers whose style encourages improvement and risk taking in a way where I,
as a student, felt completely supported. Singing is now a bigger part of my life
because of having studied with Rochelle” Lauren Dudley
I greatly cherish the time I spent learning from Rochelle. She had an innate ability to tease
out a more soulful…more genuine…version of my voice. Her relaxed and compassionate
approach also allowed me to feel more connected to my core being, and helped my
confidence soar. What I received in my lessons with Rochelle far exceeded my hopes and
expectations. Thank you Rochelle for sharing your wisdom and passion – my world has been rocked! – Ashley Raymond
Singing lessons with Rochelle are more than music instruction; it’s music
therapy. She saw important and interesting connections between the songs I
chose to study and what was going on in my life, making the whole experience
more layered. I also felt welcome into Rochelle’s “jazz family,” enjoying
not only my time as student aside her baby grand, but exposure to people and
performances I might have otherwise missed. – Nancy Cortelyou

I am lucky to have been awarded a small grant with which to
promote and teach an introductory class of BirthSongs: http://www.rochellehouse.net/education/birth-songs/
BirthSongs is a calming and pain relieving technique that I’ve designed
to help women prepare and be present during birth.
Let me know if you have any pregnant women in your life
who might want to come and check it out.
Thank you Seattle’s Office of Art and Culture
I am excited to sing with Geoff Harper and Tim Kennedy.
Two of Seattle’s most unique and funny musicians.
They love music and I love music.
We love music
“Moved to tears today by Seattle’s PlayGarden children’s choir – a celebration of diversity, welcome, and spontaneity in every possible way. So blessed to have a child in this group. Rochelle House you are making it happen!”
